![]() ![]() ![]() Buying it only sends the message "We will buy whatever you throw at us", which is a hell no. If this game sells poorly, they will get the message. Strive sold like hot cakes, because of rollback. People need to stop supporting fighting games that release like we are in early 2000s. (just look at the VF5 "absorb" netcode)Īnd no, any one who refuses to buy the game is NOT apart of the problem. If they planned to add it, then why isn't it in the game already? Sega and Atlus are just out of touch when it comes to the FGC and fighting games as a whole. Which i don't think they even know what actual rollback even is or how it even works. They literally just said they would consider it. They are not making any "anticipation" or promises that if the game sell well it will get rollback netcode down the line. It's a bad look, and everyone would have been better off if rollback had simply been an assured feature by release to begin with. What they are doing, intentional or otherwise, is holding an important feature ransom with their demand being for enough people to buy the game that it gets considered a financial success. It comes off as a marketing gimmick in which those who are thinking about it rationally feel obligated to buy the game in contribution to it's success so that a much needed feature can come later. It's a simple port of an existing game, they aren't sinking themselves much financially if it releases and isn't successful, and despite protesting now people will inevitably come flocking back to them when their next big release comes out. Corporate side, they aren't risking much. That's in particular what I find annoying and distasteful about the whole thing. I'm not saying that they are entitled to anyone's money, but if the reason why someone is refusing to buy the game is because a feature they desire depends on the game being a success, they are therefore contributing to it's failure and by extension the feature never coming. With that in mind, those who refuse to purchase knowing full well this is the case are in their own way part of the problem. However, they are nonetheless creating the anticipation that if the game sells well, it will be updated with it in the future. I don't know what the reason is or could be why it's not going to have it at release. Granted it really should simply release with rollback for begin with. Then people in forums and such will start blaming/eating each other instead of the publishers/developers for releasing a tone deaf 0 effort product. Once this game releases and sells poorly, the publisher will just blame players for not buying it and won't add rollback and abandon the game. Windjammers 2 is an ambitious project that we love and that we cannot ruin with wrong decisions that could jeopardize its quality. This decision is a tough one and it has serious consequences for all of us but we think it's fair enough if it allows us to give you the Windjammers 2 you expect and deserve. Nevertheless, these changes caused delays and as a result, forced us to postpone the release date to 2021. We started to fix and add what was necessary. We had to do something because Windjammers 2 online mode is also meant to encourage the competitive community to get into the game. We analyzed in depth all these mixed opinions regarding some stuff including the lack of rollback for the online mode, which was unanimously praised in everyone's feedback. You share a lot of positive feedback on the overall direction of Windjammers 2 (game design, gameplay, etc.) but also mixed opinions that caught our attention.
